Buffy Lynn

My darling daughter, Tracey, is arriving in about 10 days. She'll be in St. Louis for a couple of weeks before she leaves for her adventurous trip to the other side of the globe. She is a photo journalist, and photographic artist, and wants to go make pictures in Thailand and Tibet for 4 or 5 months. That's all well and good except she doesn't know a soul there, and doesn't even have a contact person and insists on traveling completely by herself. scares her mother to death.
It's not like she's completely new to this idea. She took off, after college, to move to Brooklyn N.Y. and was there that fateful day in 2001 for the 9/11 tragedy. I had no idea where she was, but she was fine, of course, and tried to race toward the center of the city after the planes crashed. She got as far as the police would allow, her camera in hand, and recorded her experience in some amazing photos. Brooklyn is a fantastic city, but very, very, expensive, even when you are holding down 3 or 4 jobs. She then set her sights on San Francisco by the bay....
She has lived in the heart of San Francisco for the past 4 years, with stints as the photo editor of the Yoga Journal, and setting up photo shoots for RED ENVELOPE for the past 10 months.(very stressful, from what I hear)
While there, she decided to train for a half-marathon, but then changed her mind, and ran the full marathon last fall. Her time was well under 4 hours, too. She recently hiked with friends, up Mount Whitney, the tallest mountain in the lower 48 states, which was a 3 day ordeal, because you need to go slowly so your body can get used to the altitude.....
Sometimes her dad and i wonder where she got all this courage to try all these things, and to achieve them as well. I guess I do remember now and again saying, when you want to do something just go for it... I never knew she was listening, I guess.
To my darling girl, be safe, be careful, we love you so and want you to come back to us safe and sound.... you are something else !

New look, on an old server-ha ha

Great Idea- thanks. Lin

The server turned out so well, I'm ready to paint the town--BLACK--

Two coats of oil based enamel later, and it's transformed into a contemporary piece!!
The best part is this piece was a freebie-- a leftover from the UPSCALE GARAGE SALE several years ago...... it was unsold, and when I got there late, they told me I could have my choice of whatever I wanted, and then they proceeded to Load it in my car!!-Such a DEAL....

2 pix of same flowers

These daisies are called "Becky" and are a wonderful type of strong stemmed daisy-however, I DID NOT mean to post them twice, and tried unsuccessfully to edit one out. (I'm still learning this) Oh Well....

Garden Pix- Only the Beginning

Looks pretty barren, everything, except the transplanted hostas, look so small- lots of black fabric cloth first, to keep the weeding to a minimum, I hope

GARDEN OBSESSION

My GArdeN HAs gottEn AwAy from mE

Boy, ignore it for one season, and it goes berserk....... My garden(s) are large, and many....
Plus, it seems as though I'm always starting a NEW one, somehow. Not too bright!!!
Well, this year I'm trying to tackle a very large area, and take it from WILD to WONDERFUL.. But that takes so much time to have that VISION become a REALITY.. (On paper, it looks like a fabulous idea), Well, I'm getting there, bit by bit...... My pampas grass keeps popping up here, there, and everywhere, but I WILL TRIUMPH !! Even if my bill for MULCH each month rivals my house payment
. So Here is some of the project in progress--

INSPIRE ME THURSDAY !!!

---BODY---PARTS---

Inspire me Thursday

Body Parts- this made me think of a painting I had recently finished, with a portrait of a child over a landscape image--HOWEVER-- Upon looking at my most recent photos(taken standing in the rain on the fourth of July under an umbrella) I was compelled to override the painting, and go with these FABULOUS ILLUSTRATION of a "body part" theme. Quite like nothing I've done before !

Get in shape!

Joined the GYM !

While at a party a few week ago, in the old neighborhood, I saw one of my friend's daughters, who I haven't seen for probably a year or two. She looked so fantastic, she had lost a lot of weight, and was in great shape. ( She has twins that are almost 3 now- so darling!) She looked amazing, and so happy, and full of energy- I just had to ask, " Sarah, How did you DO it? "
She said she had joined a gym, and with the help of her personal trainer ( I know it sounds weird) she works out 3 days a week, and THATS how she did it.....
Sarah, YOU ARE MY INSPIRATION-

I had already actually joined, several weeks before, and the gym hadn't opened yet, but seeing Sarah- set my resolve!!

So far, I've done very well, I must say, keeping my promise to myself- Wish me Luck!

Finishing Touches-

With the final few bits and pieces completed, it looks so good, I'm ready to start tearing another bathroom apart-(while we're still in the mood)

Not bad for what took about a week and a half, and under $600. with our labor !

(Bus and Lin, you were right about the rug!, thanks)
